Artist Desert Retreat

The Artist Desert Retreats are a series of prototype design explorations for a small artist community in the California desert.

The program for each building is fairly simple in such that it only consist of the basic amenities that are needed for the artist in resdidence; a studio, a living area with kitchen, a bedroom and a bathroom. What is more important is that the designs respond to the specific requirements of an artist studio as well as the very unique characteristics of the desert.

Both designs revolve around the harsh light and expansive vistas of the desert, yet provide different interpretations to fit a variety of site requirements and personal preferences.
