+ House

The plus house is a vacation home for a couple from San Francisco in 29 Palms, California. The design of the structure is based on the circadian cycle and the couple’s desire to closely follow the different stages of that cycle in their house.

The bedroom is at the core of the cross shaped structure with 4 arms that accommodate a bathroom, a kitchen, an office, and a living room with 4 small decks at the inside corners of the cross that anchor the structure while providing a dedicated exterior space for each arm of the house.

The structure is raised of the ground by 3 feet in order to provide an immersive experience /expansive views over the landscape from within the house while providing a ventilation space below. The building will be entirely off grid with dedicated solar panels, a well with and a septic field.

We are currently researching the potential of manufacturing the different sections of the building in a factory versus having the house site built in order to find the most efficient and cost effective solution.
