Modular Africa

Modular Africa is the result of a collaboration between SAATarchitecture and Groundwork Opportunities (GO) to design and implement sustainable development structures in Africa.

GO is an award winning nonprofit implementing community led development projects in Africa and Southeast Asia. SAATarchitecture is an international design office founded by Brett Terpeluk, Christopher Haas and Peter Strzebniok.

Together with GO’s local African partners, SAATarchitecture is developing a modular design framework for sustainable development projects such as schools and vocational/community centers throughout Africa.

The first joint project of this collaboration is a nursery school on the outskirts of Accra in Ghana. In order to better understand the available local materials, building technologies and capabilities as well as the local culture.
