The International Financial Tower in Zhengzhou, Henan Province of China, is a 29 story office tower that nottoscale is working on in conjunction with SAATarchitecture of San Francisco.
The office tower is situated on a parcel of land just outside of the quickly expanding city boundaries of Zhengzhou and measures 112m x 100m, or 11,200 sq. meters (120,555 sq. feet). The program calls for a total building area of 72,000 sq. meters (775,001 sq. feet) to house 29 stories of commercial space, plus 3 underground floors that will accommodate a 360-car parking garage. The first two floors will be occupied by retail and the remaining upper floors will be laid out for office use.
The architecture of the tower will incorporate cutting edge sustainable principles in order to reduce the carbon footprint of the building and will provide floor plans with a maximum of flexibility so that they can easily adapt to changing market requirements.
After an initial visit to Zhengzhou in November of 2008, the Chinese developer of the project and SAATarchitecture signed a contract for the design of the office tower, establishing SAAT’s role as the design architect with responsibilities up to the Design Development phase after which the project will be handed over to a local Design Institute in China.
